The field of awareness initiatives for a better internet for kids is quite fragmented in Belgium. In any case you have the division between federal and regional competences, between initiatives within the different communities and districts and between the different policy domains like media, education, privacy, economy, justice, welfare and health promotion, culture, youth ... That caused a lack of coordination between these initiatives and hinders the initiatives in their aim to be reach to the general public. Citizens have trouble to find their way to the initiatves, and the initiatives in turn to the citizens.

The Belgian Better Internet Consortium brings together the most important Belgian awareness initiatives to increase their coordinattion and reach through dialogue and cooperation. We work on joint initiatives, a central database, the Safer Internet Day ... In this way, together we learn to use the internet better, technically and critically.
